Sports tours Europe is promoting the fourth World Vintage Rugby Carnival to be staged in Cape Town, South Africa, the home of the current world champions, from August 29th to September 4th, 2010. The 7-day Carnival includes 3 playing days, two huge social functions, an exciting optional midweek trip and a comprehensive sightseeing and activity programme.

The Cape Carnival will provide the chance for teams, players and referees to enjoy games in the Vintage Rugby style against teams from all over the world. It is an opportunity for passionate former players of all shapes and fitness levels, to relive past glories on and off the pitch. It provides the chance for those over the age of 35 (two men’s sections Over 35 and Over 46) who still hanker to scrum, ruck and maul with their mates against rivals from around the world.

World Vintage Rugby Carnivals are friendly, exciting and full of fun events held every two years at venues selected by Vintage Rugby players and their partners. Carnival programmes are planned to provide players and their partners with an enjoyable Rugby experience through an innovative, cost-effective and relaxed social programme.

The first World Vintage Rugby Carnival was staged in Limerick in 2004 and subsequently followed by highly successful carnivals in Buenos Aires in 2006 and Christchurch in 2008.

South Africa is well endowed with a wide variety of experiences to explore. From watching the 'Big 5' game animals in one of the world's biggest national parks to enjoying a relaxing time on the wine routes. Cape Town, where sea and mountain meet dramatically, is one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

Visiting this wonderful part of the world is an experience of a lifetime and for many an experience that lasts a lifetime without losing the sense of wonder and surprise. There are many places not to be missed in Cape Town – Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape Point, The Waterfront, Groot Constantia and further afield the wine and food of Stellenbosch await you.

Cape Town is also one of the great bastions of world rugby. It is a stronghold of rugby in one of the most rugby-mad countries in the world. Whether you are 35 or 80 Vintage Rugby players are in for an unforgettable experience in 2010.
